STARKVILLE, Miss. - North Florida men's tennis (1-3) got started on the right foot by taking the doubles point from Mississippi State (6-3), but fell short against the Bulldogs, 5-2, on Friday evening.
The doubles paring of
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo did their job winning their doubles match, 6-2. The undefeated doubles pair (3-0) of
Andreas Scott and
Breno Marques sealed the doubles point for the Ospreys in their match, winning 7-5.
UNF looked to carry its positive charge into singles play, as they were up 1-0 overall in the match.
Breno Marques won his singles match in a three-set thriller (7-6, 1-6, 6-3), but it was not enough for the Ospreys, as they faltered at the hands of the Bulldogs.
The Ospreys stay in Starkville, Miss., to take on VCU on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site match at 12 p.m. ET.
