JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (3-3) picked up another victory against Yale (0-2), defeating the Bulldogs, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.
The victory secured the first winning weekend of the 2024 season for the Ospreys. UNF pitching was excellent, allowing just one run throughout the game. The bullpen tossed seven shutout innings and struck out four. North Florida will look to sweep the series tomorrow.
Will Ross tossed a scoreless first inning for Ospreys. He ran into trouble in the second, allowing a solo home run to Yale's second baseman, Jake Williams. UNF would quickly respond with an RBI-single from
Alex Rodriguez in the bottom half of the inning.
Avery Love would enter in the third, and would find his groove early. Love would pitch three innings and not allow a run. His performance would be good enough to net his first win of the season.
UNF would take the lead in the fourth inning, thanks to RBIs from
Jabin Bates and
Cherokee Nichols. Nichols would then add another RBI in the sixth on a double. The RBIs bring his series total up to seven.
Clayton Boroski and Kade Humphrey would both produce scoreless relief outings to keep Yale at bay.
Cade Bush would break the game open with a two-run single. Bush would retake the team lead in RBIs, bringing his season total up to six. Bryce Fiser would close it down and pick up his second save of the season.
