JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball (11-17, 7-6 ASUN) set the UNF DI-era single game team aces record with 17, while
Amy Burkhardt's nine aces set an individual game record in a dominant sweep of West Georgia (9-16, 2-11 ASUN) Friday, Nov. 8. With the win, North Florida is now 7-6 and in need of just one more win before earning at least a .500 mark in each of the last five seasons in league play.
With the win, UNF clinches a spot in the Atlantic Sun Championship Tournament.
Burkhardt was one ace shy of the unthinkable as she went for 14 kills, 11 digs and nine aces.
Annie Antar added her 10th double-double of the season.
UNF 3, UWG 0 (10-25, 22-25, 17-25)
- Set 1: North Florida's .550 hitting percentage fueled the Ospreys to a massive 19-9 lead late in the first set … UNF posted four aces in the last five points, concluding the frame with a block to win the opening frame in 19 minutes.
- Set 2: UNF used a 7-0 run to take an 8-4 lead … UWG went on a 6-0 run, using four aces, to take a 19-18 lead … Jacqueline Arrington stopped the run with a key kill … Amy Burkhardt went for two kills to help UNF win.
- Set 3: North Florida hit .424 in the third, with there only being one lead change, as the Ospreys won in convincing fashion … the Ospreys rattled off another seven aces in the last frame.
