Women's Basketball Dismantles Trinity Baptist in Home Opener, 146-53

Ospreys Break Program Records in Both Points & Steals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An offensive explosion from North Florida women's basketball (1-1) that had eight players in double figures led to the Ospreys breaking the all-time program scoring record in a 146-53 victory against Trinity Baptist (0-3) early Wednesday afternoon at UNF Arena.

UNF finished the home opener surpassing various program records, including all-time point scored (146), total steals (28), field goals made (57) and three-pointers made (19). The Ospreys also scored the most points in a half with 85 points at the break, while also tying the three-point attempts mark with 45 total.

Jazmine Spencer led the charge in with the team lead in points (24), steals (7) and field goals made (9). Jamisyn Stinson and Anja Ekstrom were the other two Ospreys that reached 20 points that tied the team-high mark for three-pointers with six each.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

First Half: The historic game started with a quick layup from Grace Hunter followed by a score from Jasmynne Gibson to take an early 6-0 lead...the first three was made just before the media timeout with Jazmine Spencer sinking one from the arch...six out of the next seven TBC possessions were turnovers forced by UNF to translate into a 31-7 lead late in the first...Gibson got up to eight points and four boards, while Jamisyn Stinson made her first three treys to take a 42-13 lead after 10...Anja Ekstrom heated up in the second quarter with a couple three-pointers to get her up to 11 points in the half...Nicole Carreno joined the three-point party late in the half to secure a 57-point lead going into the break.

Second Half: With just over six minutes left in the third, the Ospreys hit its 100th point of the game courtesy of a Spencer three...the senior transfer continued in her Osprey home debut with back-to-back threes shortly after to get up to 24 points and five threes in the game...Ekstrom made the final two shots from beyond the arch in the third quarter to inch closer to there program scoring record...in the start of the fourth period, Helena Rafnsdottir made both her free throws to surpass the all-time points mark, surpassing the 126 points scored against TBC in 2021...Stinson continued to make buckets down the stretch to be the third Osprey to surpass 20+ points, as the Ospreys finished off a dominant 146-point performance in a 93-point victory to open the home slate.

  • UNF finished with eight players in double figures, including six who reached the mark in the first half.
  • Anja Ekstrom makes her first appearance as an Osprey, while Sarah Taub made her first start of the season.
  • Seven players for the Ospreys recorded four or more rebounds, led by Gibson with nine rebounds.
  • Gibson dominated in the paint one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.
  • In the 28-steal performance, eight players had multiple steals with Spencer and Hunter each exceeding five total.
  • All 12 active UNF players saw playing time of 11 or more minutes with 10 of them making a field goal.
