JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Behind five double-digit scoring performances and a massive second quarter, North Florida (2-6) women's basketball dispatched Samford, 79-71, in UNF's Thanksgiving multi-team event finale Saturday, Nov. 30.
Pacing the balanced effort was freshman
Jasmynne Gibson, who impressed once again with a 20-point and seven-rebound afternoon. Despite falling behind, 20-13, North Florida outscored the Bulldogs, 28-15, in the second frame to take the lead for good.

Beyond the Box Score
Samford used a 9-0 run to take a 12-3 lead in the first quarter, matching Samford's largest margin of the opening quarter. North Florida's crucial second quarter performance started with a
Helena Rafnsdottir three-pointer, bringing UNF within four. Gibson followed with a two and
Nicole Carreno joined her classmate with a three-pointer.
The Ospreys took their first lead, 23-22, getting a
Jazmine Spencer layup at the 6:59 mark. Samford would get within one, cutting it to 36-35 with a minute and change to go in the first half. Gibson replied with a timely three-pointer and
Kaila Rougier gave UNF a six-point lead at the break with a layup.
North Florida's lead grew to as large as ten during the middle portion of the third quarter, but Samford's Sadie Stetson hit a three-pointer late into the third quarter to get the Bulldogs within a possession. The Ospreys never relinquished the lead through the fourth quarter, getting clutch buckets from a host of Ospreys to close out the comeback.
