JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF volleyball stormed back from a one-set deficit thanks to a number of career highs and stifling defense that held Austin Peay to .059 hitting in a 3-1 win Saturday, Oct. 19.
Janelly Ceopa notched a career-best 13 kills,
Mya Sopata went for a game and career-best 14 kills and
Maymie Guthrie and
Emma Pohlmann both nabbed career-best efforts with 25 and 18 digs respectively.
Annie Antar nearly notched another double-double, posting 50 assists, nine digs, four kills and a career-best four aces.
UNF 3, APSU 1 (25-27, 25-13, 25-16, 25-17)
- Set 1: Austin Peay took an 8-2 lead, but UNF went on a 4-0 run on Emma Pohlmann's serve to cut into the deficit … Austin Peay generated a 23-16 lead, but the Ospreys rattled off six-straight points to force APSU into a timeout … North Florida evaded set point with a block and earned set point with an Annie Antar ace … Austin Peay posted a kill and two-straight blocks for the lead.
- Set 2: UNF went on a 7-0 run to breakout to an 18-9 advantage, forcing two timeouts from Austin Peay … UNF held Austin Peay to five kills in the second to even things up.
- Set 3: Austin Peay started the second set with a 6-0 run to force a UNF timeout … North Florida bounced back with an 8-3 run forcing APSU into a timeout … North Florida held Austin Peay to single digit kills once again, winning set three.
- Set 4: It was Antar's serve that helped the Ospreys again, going on a 5-0 run on her serve for a 13-9 lead … UNF would hit a match-high .294 to close things out.
