CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Amy Burkhardt set a new career high with 21 kills and North Florida dropped in seven aces as the Ospreys swept Queens (5-11, 2-3 ASUN) Friday, Oct. 11.
Burkhardt went for nine kills in the first set alone, helping her to her third match with at least 20 kills on the season. It was UNF's (5-14, 2-3 ASUN) first road sweep since doing so at JU November of last year.
UNF 3, Queens 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18)
- Set1: UNF and Queens traded 3-0 runs early on the first set … tied 5-5, UNF went on a 5-1 run, using a streaky segment on Amy Burkhardt's serve … Burkhardt's six kills helped UNF to a 15-10 lead … Queens went on 4-0 run to cut the deficit to two and force UNF into a timeout … Jacqueline Arrington broke the run with a kill … Kierstyn McFall slowed down Queens once again, coming up with a clutch kill to give UNF a 23-21 lead … Burkhardt hit a scorching .421 with nine kills to help UNF to a 25-21 win.
- Set 2: Burkhardt posted her 10th kill of the match to help UNF to a 3-0 lead to start the second set … Burkhardt dropped in her third ace to give UNF a 15-13 lead at the media timeout … Rylee Moorhead came in and dropped in an ace and posted a kill to help UNF to a 23-18 lead … UNF closed the set on a 5-0 run.
- Set 3: Queens went on a 5-0 run to create a brief 8-7 lead, but McFall came up with a kill to tie it up again … UNF found its groove with a 3-0 run, using kills from McFall, Ella Bines and Burkhardt to reach a 15-12 advantage … UNF held Queens to .143 hitting in the third set to stay ahead.
