Softball Splits Pair of Early Games at Stetson Invitational

Three-Run Homer Lifts Ospreys Over Cornell, UNF Falls in Extras to Presbyterian

DeLAND, Fla. - North Florida softball (8-4) pulled out a big win against Cornell (1-2), 6-3, after trailing by a run early in the matchup, but fell to Presbyterian (12-0), 3-2, in its first extra-inning game of the year on Saturday afternoon at the Stetson Invitational.

The Ospreys picked up their eighth win in 11 games after Logan Jackson sent a moonshot over the right field fence to take a 4-1 lead over the Bears. Two more runs were added on, followed by a complete-game performance from Izzy Kelly to bring home the 6-3 win in their morning opener in DeLand.

UNF was in a defensive battle with the Blue Hose until Chloe Culp was able to break through with the game-tying run in the seventh, but a run scored in extra innings gave Presbyterian the win in the eighth. They have also now split four of their five game days this season on doubleheader days.
