Men's Basketball Falls in Tight Battle to High Point

Moss Led Five Ospreys in Scoring Double Figures

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ametri Moss lit it up from deep making four of five three-pointers with a season-high 19 points, but North Florida men's basketball (4-5) ultimately fell in a competitive non-conference battle to High Point (6-3), 86-79, on Saturday afternoon.

Moss scored his most career points at UNF, as he led the group of five Ospreys that reached double figures in scoring. Jasai Miles surpassed his career-high mark with 12 points, while Trent Coleman matcher his lifetime best in points in limited playing time.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

First Half
Moss gained the first points for UNF with a mid-range jumper, followed by another jumper from Nate Lliteras in the first five minutes...Coleman had a hot stretch with back-to-back scores, including a three, followed by another trey from Jake van der Heijden to tie the game at 16 all...another three was made by Chaz Lanier to go along with Dorian James scoring a pair to keep the game at one-possession...Moss earned an and-one opportunity after drawing a foul at the 5:30 mark to take the lead...Miles swished a deep shot from range just over three minutes until half and made another at the buzzer to take the 40-37 lead into the break.

Second Half
Moss came out scorching hot to start the second half with four consecutive made three-pointers to go up by seven against the Panthers...High Point fought their way back to one, but Lliteras drained another three assisted by Moss...back and forth scoring through the middle of the back half of the game continued within a one-possession game until HPU went on a 8-0 run...Lanier and James fought for field goals with five minutes left to bring it back to a two-point game...Jaylen Smith made an impact late as a true freshman to keep the Ospreys close entering the final minutes of the game...not enough time was left for UNF to fight off a free-throw battle, as they lose their second game at home this season, 86-79.

  • Miles has now either surpassed or matched his career-high mark in points in three straight games, including matchups against LSU and Iowa.
  • Coleman hit the double-digit mark in limited time, as he only played for just under 11 minutes.
  • Lanier extends consecutive games scoring streak to 14 straight games with back-to-back double digit performances.
  • UNF had the advantage in bench points, as they saw 34 compared to the Panthers' 19.
