FROM THE JUMP - Midweek Matinee Before Holiday Against Winthrop

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball plays one more game before the holiday break with a midweek matinee matchup against Winthrop on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 12 p.m., in UNF Arena.

The Ospreys come back from a road trip to No. 12 Kansas State, but had previously won three of the past four games before then. UNF will look to start its stand of four straight home games strong against the Eagles.

Wednesday's matchup will be broadcasted on ESPN+. Updates for the games will be made through live stats, as well as on Twitter/X at OspreyWBB and on Instagram at OspreysWBB.


FROM THE JUMP

  • The Ospreys have gone 3-2 in their last five games with its losses to undefeated Saint Joseph's and No. 12 Kansas State in that stretch.
  • UNF is also 3-1 at home so far this season with wins against Trinity Baptist, Warner and Piedmont.
  • This would be the first victory at home for head coach Erika Lambert against a D-I team.
  • Alexa Washington is fresh off her second career ASUN Freshman of the Week honor after scoring 31 points with a program-best nine three-pointers against Piedmont.
  • Lyric Swann and Kaila Rougier remain the top two scorers with double figure averages with 10.7 PPG and 11.7 PPG respectively.
  • Washington joins Swann and Rougier as the three Ospreys with at least 20 threes made.
  • Emma Broermann continues to dominate on the boards with 5.7 RPG, while Selma Eklund and Kaila Rougier also average 4.0+ RPG.
  • Jayla Adams has the top mark for assists on the season with 4.3 APG, while no one else has over an average of two per game.


SCOUTING REPORT

  • Winthrop comes into Jacksonville, Fla., with a 6-5 overall record and a 1-2 record on the road.
  • The Eagles have played against three Power Five teams (Clemson, Alabama & Texas A&M).
  • Also played fellow ASUN opponent at home against Queens (N.C.), where they suffered a close loss, 64-61.
  • Recovered afterwards with back-to-back wins against Carolina University and Georgia State before this matchup.
  • The team was picked to finish seventh of nine teams in the Big South Preseason Poll.
  • Jada Ryce was also selected to the Big South Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
  • Marissa Gasaway is the lone Eagle to average double-digit points with 10.6 PPG.
  • She also leads the team with 10.5 RPG and is one of three players averaging 1.5+ SPG.
  • Along with Gasaway and Ryce, Ronaltha Marc, Leonor Paisana and Blessing Okoh consist of the starting five that has been used for all 11 games.


AN OSPREY WIN AGAINST WINTHROP WOULD...

  • Be first win against the Eagles since its first matchup in 2005.
  • Move UNF to 2-0 all-time against the Eagles and pick up first win against them at home.
  • Make its home record 4-1 during non-conference play.
