JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Six Ospreys went for double-digit scoring nights, headlined by
Jake van der Heijden's 18-point output in 12 minutes, as North Florida (1-0) blew past Coastal Georgia (2-1) in the season opener, 92-55, Monday, Nov. 6.
UNF's 92-point effort was good for its most points since scoring 93 in the season-opening win at Illinois to start the 2015 year. Five Ospreys made their UNF debuts, three of them going for double-digit scoring performances.
North Florida had as large as a 40-point lead and never trailed, getting 46 points from its bench and 54 second half points.

- Ametri Moss scored the first of his 10 points with a layup at the rim, giving North Florida and the lefty its first points of the season … Chaz Lanier made a three from the win on a kickout pass, UNF's first trey of the campaign for a 10-6 advantage at the media timeout … van der Heijden began to heat up, making consecutive three-pointers to help put UNF up, 24-14 … Coastal Georgia scratched its way back into a single-digit deficit, but UNF's 12-3 run to finish the half pushed the Ospreys to a 14-point edge at the break … van der Heijden threw home a an alley-oop from Lanier and Lanier got loose on a steal for a finger roll layup to finish the frame.
2nd Half
- North Florida was clicking from the beginning of the second half, efficiently expanding its lead to 19-points after a thunderous Trent Coleman dunk … Jaylen Smith converted all six of his points in a short stretch with a pair of three-pointers, putting North Florida ahead, 60-42 … van der Heijden made his fourth three-pointer, this time in transition, to push North Florida up by 21 … North Florida got a jolt of offense from Jah Nze as the Ospreys scored 27 over the final ten minutes.
