Women’s Tennis Dominates in Consecutive Sweeps

UNF Tops Presbyterian and Wofford

CLINTON, S.C. & SPARTANBURG, S.C. - North Florida women's tennis remained undefeated in matches against Presbyterian and Wofford as it swept both opponents, 4-0, on the road Friday, Jan. 27.

The Ospreys are now 3-0 all-time against Presbyterian and carry a 2-0 record against Wofford. This is the first time in three years that UNF has won two matches on the same day, as well as the first time it swept two teams in a row since Jan. 17, 2020 when it beat Flagler and Florida A&M, 7-0.

In the morning match against Presbyterian, UNF secured the doubles point with 6-2 and 6-1 wins as the third court was left unfinished. In singles play, Kit Gulihur and Kendall Nash secured wins on their courts while Jasmin Makela clinched the 4-0 sweep for the Ospreys. Annabelle Davis, Megan Forster, and Isabel Oliveira's courts were left unfinished for the match.

In the afternoon, UNF quickly earned a 1-0 lead as Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo as well as Nash and Forster swept their respective courts. Gulihur and Melilo each secured a win in singles play, giving the Ospreys a 3-0 lead. Forster clinched the win for UNF after winning 6-3, 6-4 as the remaining courts were left unfinished.

The Ospreys look to make it four-straight wins Sunday in Charleston, South Carolina as UNF faces Charleston Southern.

"Today was a really special day. We had the opportunity to play in our "Pink Out" match with Presbyterian, competing in memory of one of my college teammates and best friends, Kathryn Kleckley. I'm extremely grateful for Joe and PC for making the effort to hold such a special event and honor her family. Though we got to compete and came away with a victory, we were reminded that it's much more than a game. I was also extremely proud of our team for their toughness today. It was a physical day of two matches in cold weather and we took on the challenge. This team continues to grow stronger each day and we're excited for another opportunity Sunday." -- Head Coach Catherine Dunagan
