FORT MYERS, Fla. - UNF women's tennis' doubles play highlighted day two at the Bedford Cup, as UNF claimed one doubles title and advanced to the finals in another.
Kendall Nash and
Annabelle Davis defeated pairs from Stetson and FGCU to take home the Blue B Draw Doubles title. Freshman
Jasmin Makela and sophomore
Isabel Oliveira also had a very impressive showing, tallying a pair of quality wins to advance to the Green A Draw Doubles final. The pair defeated a duo from Florida and USF en route to the finals.
Makela and Nash were also winners of their own right in singles competition, with Makela digging deep to win a three-set 10-point tiebreaker against FIU's Ekaterina Khairutdinova.
Kendall Nash downed another in-state opponent in Maya Shanuk of FAU.
Despite falling, Davis had a battle to remember with Florida's Emma Shelton. After dropping the first set, Davis' stamina showed through as she won the second frame and fought to the very end in a 10-point tiebreaker before succumbing, 16-14.
