FORT MYERS, Fla. - Marissa House vaulted high for a header goal in the final minute of play, but FGCU's lead was already too much to overcome as North Florida women's soccer fell in the penultimate match of an extended road trip to the Eagles, 3-1, Thursday, Sept. 22.
The Eagles (4-5, 2-1 ASUN) scored once in the first half and twice in the second, getting four points from ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, Louise Lillback.
House scored following a free kick in the 90th minute, the second goal of her career.
Brenna Robinson and
Ashlyn Freshwater made their UNF (1-5-1, 0-2-0 ASUN) debuts, while
Kate Carter made her season debut.

- First Half: FGCU scored the game's first goal in the 5th minute … a long ball from Lillback setup Erika Zschuppe, who took the pass and dribbled the ball into the box, scoring in transition … Jersi Dadah put a shot on goal that just rolled left of the post as FGCU evaded allowing the equalizer in the 14th minute … FGCU's Lillback was able to dribble to the top of the box and attempt a shot on goal, but Sarah Barrentine sprawled out for a highlight reel diving save to prevent a second score … Dadah had UNF's next-best opportunity in the 33rd minute after she sent a one-timer on a pass from Haynes Grant high of the crossbar … the score stayed, 1-0, in favor of FGCU heading into the break.
- Second Half: UNF escaped a dangerous situation in the 53rd minute as the North Florida goal was exposed … FGCU couldn't finish the attack as the UNF backline managed to break things up … Zara Siassi got in the way of an FGCU shot just minutes later … UNF responded with a counterattack, but FGCU keeper Katie Sullivan dove to deflect a shot from Dadah … UNF and FGCU traded good opportunities offensively until FGCU got what turned out to be the deciding goal in the 73rd minute … FGCU's Kendal Gargiula was helped out again from Lillback as Gargiula scored from inside the box … Lillback got on the scoring end of the offense, taking a cross from Leah Scarpelli and converting FGCU's third goal in the 86th minute … UNF got on the board in the 90th minute … Brenna Robinson sent a free kick into the box that bounced around and eventually sailed in the direction of a leaping Marissa House … House headed the ball inside the left post for the goal as Hannah Farmer was awarded the assist.
