JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball had the louder base hits on the night, but the Jacksonville Dolphins got theirs to fall when they needed them most as UNF's ninth-inning push came up two runs short in a 6-4 loss to JU Friday, May 13 at John Sessions Stadium.
UNF (20-29, 10-15 ASUN) led, 2-1, going into the seventh before JU (25-23, 11-14 ASUN) vaulted itself ahead for good with a three-run frame.
Despite trailing by four in the ninth,
Trey Spratling-Williams launched a long two-run home run to right before the Ospreys eventually got the tying run to the dish. JU would close the door to take the series opener.

Behind the Line Score
- It was a vintage Friday night pitcher's duel early as the game saw only one hit through three innings.
- UNF broke a 0-0 stalemate in the fourth. Brock Edge singled to center, Abraham Sequera followed him with another and a productive out moved Edge to third. Aidan Sweatt scored Edge on a sac fly.
- Justin Holmes made it 2-0 with one swing, belting a solo home run to right center in the fifth.
- A hit batter, single and RBI groundout allowed JU to cut its deficit in half in the sixth.
- JU was just inches from tying the game, but Holmes came through again for UNF, this time on defense. The outfielder cut down the game-tying runner at home with a strike to Dallen Leach following a JU single.
- The Dolphins didn't go away in the seventh. An infield single scored the game-tying run and a two-out two-RBI flare single into left center put JU up 4-2. JU did walk three times in the frame.
- UNF got runners to the corners in the eighth, but JU turned a double play to get out of the jam. First baseman Christian Coipel dug a low throw out of the dirt, getting the second out while preventing Edge from scoring in the process.
- JU doubled up its lead in eighth with an RBI double and a run-scoring wild pitch.
- Trey Spratling-Williams made it interesting with a towering two-run home run to right in the ninth, cutting the deficit to 6-4.
