JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After recording a win and a save in two relief appearances on Tuesday,
Halle Arends took command of the circle and threw a no-hit performance against Tennessee State (8-12) to lead North Florida softball (19-5) to its ninth shutout victory in 10 games Wednesday, March 9.
Arends tossed an efficient 77 pitches through seven innings with 23 batters faced, while allowing no hits, no runs, struck out five batters and only allowed one walk. The bats of
Paige Pfent,
Shannon Glover and
Gianna Niemeier combined for six hits, four runs, two RBI and a home run against the Tigers.
The Ospreys have now outscored their last 10 opponents by a combined score of 56-1. They also extended their winning streak to 11 straight games and matched their best start through 24 games with the 2013 season.

- Arends brought the heat early with a quick 1-2-3 start to the first inning.
- In the second, the Ospreys struck first after a infield grounder by
Hayley Bejarano scored Glover to go up a run.
- Arends pitched back-to-back three up, three down innings to keep the Tigers scoreless headed to the bottom of the fourth.
