Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Ousted by Lipscomb in ASUN Championship Play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tied 31-31 at the half, North Florida (11-20) and Lipscomb (14-18) were looking to gear up for a repeat of their barn burner back in Jacksonville when the teams met in January. But, an 8-0 run out of the break helped push Lipscomb ahead for good as North Florida was ousted out of ASUN Championship play with a 74-65 loss to the Bisons Tuesday, March 1.

Jadyn Parker scored UNF's first nine points of the game as he finished with a 17, tying his career high. Carter Hendricksen and Jose Placer also joined Parker with double-digit scoring nights as the duo made their first appearance in the same game since early February.

The Ospreys held Lipscomb to only 3-for-15 from beyond the arc, but the Bisons' 20-point margin down low proved to be a huge deciding factor in Tuesday night's outcome.

All told, Lipscomb led for nearly 23 minutes of play, with the Ospreys owning the advantage for 13 minutes and 33 seconds, all of which came in the first half.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
1st Half
  • Parker carried the North Florida offense early, posting all of UNF's first nine points to give the Ospreys a 9-8 advantage … after a Jonathan Aybar layup put UNF ahead, 11-10 with 13:06 to go, North Florida worked towards its largest lead of the game … the Ospreys went on an 11-4 run to create a 22-14 lead capped by a long three-pointer from Jose Placer at the 9:47 mark … the Bisons turned in their own 11-4 clip to cut UNF's lead to just one with 4:10 to go in the half … Lipscomb took its first lead since the 14:57 mark after Parker Hazen dunked home two points with 45 seconds to go in the session … things were tied up 31-31 heading into the break.

2nd Half
  • The Bisons turned the tide quickly, getting strong play in the paint while going 17-for-21 from the line to take things down the stretch … Lipscomb's 8-0 run was its largest of the game, setting the Bisons ahead, 42-34, with 15:28 to go … the hosts led by at least seven for most of the half until UNF started to hit some three pointers … Emmanuel Adedoyin connected on an important three to get back within single digits, Hendricksen drilled one to cut the deficit to six and Jarius Hicklen got one to go off the window from the corner, getting UNF within five … North Florida couldn't get any closer than five points as Lipscomb closed things out at the line.
