North Florida Starts Final 10 Matches of Regular Season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An important weekend of tennis is set for North Florida women's tennis as the Ospreys host UAB Friday before going to Stetson for the ASUN opener Sunday. 

Friday's match marks the final non-conference match of the regular season, while UNF begins match one of nine in ASUN regular season play Sunday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Florida women's tennis' tough February and early March slate continued Saturday as the Ospreys (5-7) fell on the road to No. 40 Charlotte (10-2). Kit Gulihur continued her winning ways, extending her singles winning streak to five matches.

Series History
  • UAB: UNF is taking on UAB for the third time … the last time these two teams met was in 2011 … UNF won that meeting, 4-3 … the series is even, 1-1, as UAB took the first-ever meeting, 4-3, back in 2009 … this is the first time the two teams will be meeting in Birmingham.
  • Stetson: North Florida is 21-4 against long-time rival, Stetson … the Ospreys are 9-2 against the Hatters in DeLand … UNF is on a nine-match winning streak against the Hatters … UNF hasn't lost in DeLand since 2008.

Scouting Report
  • UAB: UAB is 9-6 on the year and 3-4 in road matches … the Blazers took down WKU in their conference opener before breaking from league play for a pair of non-conference matches … UAB reached the C-USA Quarterfinals a year ago … Sydney Clarke leads the team with a 10-3 dual singles mark … the Blazers are 47-30 in doubles play between the fall season and spring season.
  • Stetson: Stetson is having one of its best seasons to date, starting the year 11-1 while going 9-0 at home … the Hatters dropped a 4-3 decision at USF in their lone loss of the year … Stetson is on a four-match winning streak, having defeated Oakland, St. John's, Charleston and UNC Greensboro … Anais Gabriel was named ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 15.
