FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida softball (21-6, 2-1) fell just short of the weekend sweep to open conference play after Florida Gulf Coast (8-18, 1-2) hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh Monday afternoon at the FGCU Softball Complex.
Multi-hit games from
Kayla Harper,
Paige Pfent and
Regan Hermeling weren't enough to get the offense going late in the game. UNF kept things close for the entirety of the game until allowing their first home run of the season in the seventh for the Eagles to avoid the sweep.
The Ospreys had a 13-game winning streak going into Sunday's game, which was a DI-era program record. It was their first loss since dropping a 2-1 decision to Notre Dame at The Spring Games on Feb. 25.
