JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis (4-4) needed just over two hours to take care of business against South Carolina State (2-2) as the Ospreys stayed perfect at home with a 6-1 win against the Bulldogs in front of a strong crowd on a pleasant February afternoon.
North Florida is 3-0 at home on the year and are winners of its last two matches, both coming in the past 48 hours.
How it Happened
UNF stormed past SC State in doubles, winning 6-3 at the third position and 6-2 at second doubles.
Jonas Hartenstein had control all afternoon in his top singles match, finishing first. Just minutes behind Hartenstein was
Nilo Duarte, who downed Omer Gorgun, 6-3, 6-2.
Rodrigo Crespo was the clincher for UNF, winning in straight sets to put UNF ahead, 4-1.
On opposite ends of the UNF Tennis Complex,
Bruno Vietri and
Breno Marques achieved a pair of firsts. Vietri won his first match at the five slot and Marques picked up his first dual singles win in the Navy and Gray.
