JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball (6-1) took both games of the doubleheader against Mercer (1-7) after go-ahead hits by the Ospreys were made late in each game on Friday, Feb. 18, from the UNF Softball Complex.
UNF relied heavily on the pitching of
Erin Kyle in the first game before
Kayla McGory sent the go-ahead bomb to left center in the bottom of the fifth.
Ashley Goebel and
Logan Jackson teamed up two combined for four hits, two RBI and two runs as well to secure the first game.
McGory showed up again for the Ospreys in the second game of the doubleheader when she brought in the game-tying runs in the third, which set up
Abi Annett's go-ahead two-run RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Annett and
Bailee Aguigui were the second dynamic duo of the nighcap, combining for four hits, two RBIs, and two runs as well to earn another comeback victory over the Bears.

Kyle pitched another near-perfect game on the mound allowing only two hits, while McGory recorded the go-ahead two-run bomb in the fifth to push the Ospreys to a 5-2 win.

Behind the Line Score
- Mercer was the first team to put runs on the board in the second inning when an attempt to get a runner advancing from the third to home was late following a groundball.
- Goebel gave the Ospreys the run back after her triple to right field that set up Jackson to bring her home in the bottom of the second.
- The Bears tacked on another run in the fourth after a fielding error to take a 2-1 lead.

Kayla Harper was able to get on base to allow McGory to send one out of the park to overtake the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth.
- Goebel knocked another one into the outfield to send
Regan Hermeling home in the fifth, but was thrown out on her way to second.
- Harper added insurance to the Osprey lead by putting one into play and sending Aguigui home to make the score 5-2 in the sixth.

- Kelly started the second game of the doubleheader after coming in for the save in the first game.
- After two runs were put up in the third inning by Mercer, the Ospreys turned to Arends in the pen.
- In the bottom of the third, McGory showed up clutch once again, doubling down the left field line to send the game-tying runs home.
- The pitchers would dual out quick innings before Annett broke the tie with a single up the middle to bring home the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth.
- UNF struck out two batters to start the seventh before a hit was made to bring up the game-tying run, but a blooper to Jackson at first gave the Ospreys their sixth win of the year.
- Arends mowed down eight batters over five innings in her appearance, which ties
