Second Regional Honor in as Many Seasons
NEW ORLEANS - After placing 17th in the NCAA South Region meet Nov. 11, UNF men's cross country standout Aidan O'Gorman was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Region team as released earlier this week by the national organization.
Only 225 men's cross country student-athletes nationwide earned all-region distinction, with O'Gorman earning the honor in consecutive seasons.
O'Gorman was the lone south region selection from ASUN schools and just one of three men from the ASUN Conference tabbed after Liberty's Nicholas Kiprotich and Eastern Kentucky's Abdelhakim Abouzouhir earned all-southeast region honors.
The New Smyrna Beach, Fla., native was also selected to the ASUN Second Team and ASUN All-Academic Team this past season. The senior broke UNF's 8K mark and also set a personal-best time of 30:06.9 in the 10K at the regional meet.
UNF men's cross country concluded the fall with a solid finish at the NCAA South Region meet in Huntsville, Ala., finishing eighth of 22 teams while placing ahead of teams such as Georgia, Memphis, FGCU, Kennesaw State and Florida.
