Graduate Student Drops Qualifying Round Match to Vanderbilt's Holly Staff

CARY, N.C. - For the second time in as many years, Kit Gulihur earned an entry to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships. This time, the star-studded graduate student competed in singles play as Gulihur dropped a qualifying round of 64 matchup against No. 64 Holly Staff of Vanderbilt.

Gulihur, ranked No. 43 in the fall singles ranking, came up short, 1-6, 3-6, against the SEC foe. Gulihur will have another opportunity tomorrow against Ava Markham of Wisconsin.

Tomorrow's match against Markham serves as a consolation round of a 32-qualifying matchup. The winner faces the victor between Sophie Luescher (Oregon) and Maria Juliana Parra Romero (Liberty).
