RICHMOND, Ky. - North Florida volleyball (8-14, 6-5 ASUN) had its hunt for a three-match winning streak stymied by Eastern Kentucky (13-12, 4-7 ASUN) as the Ospreys came up short in three frames against the Colonels Friday, Oct. 28.
Solimar Cestero posted a team-best 14 kills while surpassing 200-career blocks in the effort.
Maymie Guthrie tallied a career-best 16 digs, joining Moro with 16 on the night.
Friday night's match begins a three-match road swing this weekend. The Ospreys get back to competition tomorrow at Bellarmine, followed by a road match at FIU Sunday.
UNF 0, EKU 3 (18-25, 23-25, 16-25)
Inside the Sets
- Set 1: Mahalia White and Maddy Campbell of EKU battled for the set lead in kills as they both posted five … Cestero also tallied four, but seven more attack errors from the Ospreys hurt UNF in the opening frame, providing the difference.
- Set 2: The second set proved to be critical for the outcome of the match, and the result ebbed in either direction, seeing 11 tie scores and five lead changes … UNF went on a 3-0 run, keyed by two White kills and another from Kailey McKnight … with the session tied, 17-17, EKU slipped ahead to a 21-19 lead … UNF went on a 4-1 run, but EKU closed things out after a service error and attack error were followed by a Colonels ace that rolled off the tape and down.
- Set 3: Cestero took matters into her own hands in the third, posting seven kills, although EKU hit .333 as a team, committing just two errors, to hold off the Ospreys.
