ATLANTA - The doubles duo of
Isabel Oliveira and
Kit Gulihur cruised to a round of 16 win before showing a flair for the dramatic in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional quarterfinals to defeat a pair from UCF on day three in Atlanta.
Oliveira and Gulihur cruised past USF's Sierra Berry and Grace Schumacher, 8-2. They followed that up with another in-state matchup, taking on UCF's Marie Mattel and Nandini Sharma, battling off two match points to win in tiebreaker fashion, 8-7 (8-6). With the win, Oliveira and Gulihur advance to the semifinals tomorrow.
Gulihur nearly added another singles win and quarterfinals appearance, but came up short against Miami's Audrey Boch-Collins in three frames.
Gulihur and Oliveira take on Georgia Tech's Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura tomorrow.
