From the Jump - Women's Basketball Plays Stetson in ASUN Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's basketball plays just it second home game since Nov. 21 when it hosts Stetson in the ASUN home opener Saturday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the 24th meeting between these two teams ... UNF leads the series, 9-8, in home games ... UNF and Stetson split a pair of games in Jacksonville last January ... the Hatters won the last meeting on a last-second shot in overtime.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Stetson is 7-7 and coming off a home loss to Liberty earlier this week ... the Hatters are 1-3 on the road ... Stetson is led by Lynn Bria in her 14th year at Stetson ... Stetson is looking for its first victory since defeating VCU at home Dec. 17 ... Yazz Wazeerud-Din is Stetson's go-to scorer, leading the way with 13.2 points per game as one of two Hatters averaging over 10 points a contest ... Stetson is outrebounding other teams by 4.4 per game ... the Hatters don't block many shots, posting just 16 for the year while foes have blocked 44 shot attempts against Stetson.

The Ospreys are first in the ASUN as a team in four different categories, with two being offensive and two defensive. 

North Florida leads the league in blocks, blocks/game, field goal percentage (45.5) and free-throw percentage (75.3).

It was a back and forth game featuring 13 lead changes, but the final three minutes is all that mattered as Stetson grabbed a 78-76 overtime win against North Florida women's basketball on Sunday at UNF Arena as the Ospreys earn a split to start ASUN play. (Jan. 3, 2021)

UNF guard Ally Knights set the tone for her season, posting 20 assists in a massive win against Trinity Baptist, good for the most assists in the NCAA since 2002. The Australia native is leading the league with 62 helpers (47th in the NCAA) and paces the ASUN with 5.2 assists/contest (38th in NCAA DI). 

Sharpshooter Rhetta Moore has a 2.5assists/turnover ratio, good for 31st in the nation and first in the league. Knights is close behind with a 2.14 assist/turnover ratio, sixth-best in the ASUN and 69th in the NCAA.

AT THE BREAK
The score at halftime has told the fate of the final score thus far. UNF is a perfect 7-0 when leading at the break, while going 0-6 when behind at halftime.
