Women’s Basketball Bests Lipscomb in Overtime Thriller

Ospreys Go 10-for-12 From the Line in OT to Close Things Out

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - All 40 minutes of regulation and five minutes of overtime were needed to decide a winner between North Florida women's basketball (10-10, 3-5 ASUN) and Lipscomb (8-12, 3-4 ASUN), but when the final buzzer sounded the Ospreys came out on top in a thrilling 83-75 overtime victory against the Bisons Saturday, Jan. 29.

It's not how you start, but how you finish, and that adage rang true in Saturday's ball game. After Lipscomb opened the game on a 10-0 run, UNF clawed back into the game, taking its first lead on a trio of free throws by Summah Evans at the 7:18 mark in the third quarter.

After four more tie scores, UNF created some separation with the help of four players in double-digit scoring. Up 63-57 with 3:26 remaining, Lipscomb rattled off a 7-0 run before UNF jumped ahead once more on an Emma Broermann layup with 57 seconds on the clock.

Lipscomb hit a pair of go-ahead free throws with four seconds on the clock, but Jazz Bond was able to even the game at 66-66 after hitting one of two free throws.

The overtime period was all about UNF though. After Lipscomb hit a three-pointer for the first points of the frame, UNF outscored UNF 17-6 the rest of the way.

Jazz Bond broke the 20-point margin for the seventh time this season, Rhetta Moore nabbed her third-career double-double and Summah Evans scored a career-best 18 points.
