Preview: Women's Tennis Hosts Stetson in ASUN Quarterfinal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  The North Florida women's tennis hosts Stetson in the ASUN Quarterfinal. The Ospreys earned the ASUN South Division title and the top seed after going 6-0 in ASUN regular season play. 

Against Our Opponent
UNF leads the series 20-4 against the Hatters, defeating Stetson 5-2 in both previous meetings this year. 

Last Time Out
The Ospreys (14-7, 6-0 ASUN) are coming off a 7-0 sweep of Florida A&M Tuesday. 

Taking Inventory
  • North Florida is 17-3 in the two slot in singles with Catherine Gulihur leading the way, 14-3. 
  • Annabelle Davis, Gulihur and Lucia Montano finished the ASUN regular season 6-0 in singles.
  • Freshman Davis is 8-1 in singles. 
  • North Florida earned it's fifth ASUN Player of the Week honor this season with Lucia Montano earning Co-Player of the Week April 7. 
  • Constanza Gorches and Montano are 13-5 in doubles, 5-0 in conference play. 
  • In 2020 North Florida went 10-1, with their only loss at No.24 Florida before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Ospreys are the five-time defending ASUN Tournament Champions after downing FGCU, 4-3, in the title match in 2019.
  • North Florida's roster features eight returners and two newcomers. Freshman Annabelle Davis joins the squad this year along with junior transfer Catherine Gulihur from Oklahoma State. 
  • Head coach Catherine Dunagan enters her second season as the head coach at UNF. Assistant coach Ana Roman enters her second year with the Ospreys as well. 

Stetson
  • Stetson (6-9, 1-5 ASUN) is coming off a 3-4 loss at Kennesaw State Sunday.
  • Katie Kubicz is 7-6 and 4-1 in ASUN singles.
  • The Hatters are 9-6 on court three and 9-5 on court five in singles.  
  • Stetson is 9-4 in the three slot in doubles.
  • Last year the Hatters went 8-5 in the shortened season. 
  • Head coach Travis Sandlant is in his fifth season at Stetson.

Home Match COVID-19 Protocols 
This season, due to UNF, ASUN and NCAA Covid-19 protocol, all spectators will be required to view tennis matches from outside the perimeter fencing at the UNF Tennis Complex. Sightlines will be limited by the windscreen that will remain in place on all fencing. All areas within the perimeter fencing including the areas between courts 1 and 2 as well as the tennis complex restrooms will be closed to spectators and maintained as a team-only area due to social distancing requirements. Spectators will be able to access restrooms at Hodges Stadium during all tennis matches. Admission to all matches is free and masks are required while on the UNF Campus.
