Big Hits and Errors Costly against Georgia State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida took an early lead, but Georgia State tallied four multi-run innings and capitalized on Osprey miscues to take the game, 13-7, Sunday morning at UNF Softball Complex.

How it Happened

  • North Florida tacked on two runs in the opening inning thanks to an RBI double from Shannon Glover before she scored on a Georgia State error for a 2-0 lead.
  • The Panthers took their lead in the third on a double down the line, an RBI single and a three-run homer for a 5-2 lead.
  • Georgia State then added three in the top of the fourth and two in the fifth. 
  • UNF chipped into the lead when Ashley Goebel hit a two-run homer in the fourth and had an RBI single in the fifth for an 8-4 game.
  • The visitors were not done though as they put up another three runs in the top of the seventh. 
  • In the seventh, Logan Jackson reached on an error and the miscue allowed Shannon Glover to come around and score. Goebel then singled up the middle for another run, but the late rally was not enough as Dolittle forced the final groundout.



Notes

  • Goebel was 3-for-4 on the day with four RBI.
  • Freshman Refan Hermeling earned a start with two hits.
  • Glover had a pair of hits and also scored three runs.
  • Clausen and Alyssa Dhyr combined for seven strikeouts.
