JACKSONVILLE - North Florida women's basketball wraps up the regular season on the road at ASUN newcomer Bellarmine Friday and Saturday as both teams battle for seeds in the upcoming ASUN Championship.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- After losing back-to-back games against league-leading FGCU, North Florida looks to snap a three game losing streak as they travel to Kentucky to face Division I newcomer, Bellarmine.
- Senior Jazz Bond ranks 70th in the NCAA and 2nd in the ASUN with 17.9 ppg. She ranks in the top 10 in 14 ASUN statistic categories, highlighted by her 1st place ranking in total blocks (51).
- In ASUN games, North Florida is third in total points and assists/game, and second in blocks/game, while ranking first in 3PT%. Junior Marissa Mackins ranks 16th in Division I in 3PM (59). She is also 23rd in 3PT percentage with a 43.4 percent clip.
- The Ospreys continue to rank in the top 30 in the NCAA several three-point categories including 10th in three-pointers made with 201. UNF is 10th in 3PT/game (9.6), 23rd in attempts (546) and 27th in 3PT% (36.8%).
- With a victory on Friday, Coach Gibbs will notch his 72nd career win - his first against the Knights, while clinching a winning regular-season record for the third straight year.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Division I newcomer, Bellarmine, sits at 5-14 overall, with a 5-9 record in the ASUN.
- The Knights split the series with North Alabama. After losing their first matchup, 89-76, the team bounced back and won its second game against the Lions, 80-70.
- Four players notched at least 14 points, with senior Tasia Jeffries leading the charge with 20 points. Jeffries leads the team in points/game (13.3), 3PM/game (2.3), and steals/game (1.9). Bellarmine ranks first in the ASUN in FT made/game (15.7), FT attempted/game (20.9), and FT percentage (75.3).
UP NEXT
North Florida will learn its seating for the ASUN Conference Championship. The Ospreys will travel to Kennesaw, Ga. Games begin March 11.
