Balanced Effort Propels Volleyball Past Stetson, 3-1

O’Connell, Moro Surpass 1,000-Career Digs in Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Five different Ospreys tallied double-digit dig nights and a pair of statistical milestones were eclipsed as UNF volleyball (9-9, 8-4 ASUN) finished the regular season with a 3-1 win against Stetson (6-7, 5-7 ASUN) Saturday, March 20.

Senior Miriam Stingl was honored for Senior Night prior to a match in which she poured in a season-high 12 kills. Kirby Smith tied a season high with eight kills and Solimar Cestero posted a season-high 17 digs. Bre Walp also added a season-best seven blocks.

Two Ospreys surpassed 1,000-career digs in the match. Gabby O'Connell eclipsed the mark in the first set, while Rocio Moro reached it in the fourth.

North Florida earns the second seed in the ASUN Championship and will host third-seeded Stetson Saturday, March 27 in the ASUN Championship Quarterfinals.

Wright's Words
On Miriam Stingl & Kirby Smith
"First of all, we were honoring Miriam Stingl on her Senior Night; what a performance that she had! She's a great matchup against Stetson. Kirby came off the bench and she executed really well. But not only that, her intensity and defensive movements were critical to swing the momentum and close them out in four."
