Preview: Women's Tennis Travels to Wofford, Presbyterian

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  The North Florida women's tennis team heads to South Carolina for road matches at Wofford Saturday and Presbyterian Sunday. 

Against Our Opponent
UNF leads the series 1-0 against Presbyterian, defeating the Blue Hose, 7-2, in 2001. Saturday's match at Wofford marks the teams' first meeting. 

Last Time Out
The Ospreys (3-4) are coming off a 4-3, loss at USF (4-5), Wednesday, Feb. 24. 

Taking Inventory
  • North Florida is 4-2 in the two slot in singles with Catherine Gulihur leading the way, 3-2. 
  • The Ospreys are .500 or above on courts two, three, four, and six. 
  • Gulihur and partner Ana Paula Melilo are 4-0, in the one slot in doubles. 
  • Constanza Gorches and Lucia Montano are 4-3 on court two in doubles. 
  • Montano was ranked 84th in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings Jan. 13. and earned ASUN Player of the Week honors Feb. 3.
  • In 2020 North Florida went 10-1, with their only loss at No.24 Florida before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Ospreys are the five-time defending ASUN Tournament Champions after downing FGCU, 4-3, in the title match in 2019.
  • North Florida's roster features eight returners and two newcomers. Freshman Annabelle Davis joins the squad this year along with junior transfer Catherine Gulihur from Oklahoma State. 
  • Head coach Catherine Dunagan enters her second season as the head coach at UNF. Assistant coach Ana Roman enters her second year with the Ospreys as well. 

Wofford
  • The Terriers (5-2) are coming off a 7-0 win against North Greenville University Thursday. 
  • Wofford is 3-3 in the one slot and 5-1 in the two slot. 
  • Jenna Vroman and Lilie Steryous are 3-0 on court one in doubles
  • Head coach Krissy Hall enters her ninth season with the Terriers

Presbyterian
  • The Blue Hose (1-6) are coming off an 0-7 loss to Elon Thursday. 
  • Jessica Leeman is 3-3 on court four in singles. 
  • Head coach Joel Roberts enters his second year at Presbyterian.
