Preview: Women's Tennis On the Road at USF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis travels to South Florida Wednesday for the teams' second meeting this season.

Against Our Opponent
UNF downed USF in the teams' last meeting 6-1, Jan. 8, 2021 at home. South Florida leads the series 9-3.

Last Time Out
The Ospreys (3-3) are coming off a 5-2, loss at FIU (2-0), Saturday, Feb. 20. 

Taking Inventory
  • Catherine Gulihur is 3-1, in the two slot in singles. 
  • Ana Paula Melilo is 3-1, in singles. The junior is 1-0, in the two slot and 2-1, in the three slot. 
  • Gulihur and Melilo are 4-0, in the one slot in doubles. 
  • Lucia Montano was ranked 84th in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings Jan. 13. and earned ASUN Player of the Week honors Feb. 3.
  • In 2020 North Florida went 10-1, with their only loss at No.24 Florida before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Ospreys are the five-time defending ASUN Tournament Champions after downing FGCU, 4-3, in the title match in 2019.
  • North Florida's roster features eight returners and two newcomers. Freshman Annabelle Davis joins the squad this year along with junior transfer Catherine Gulihur from Oklahoma State. 
  • Head coach Catherine Dunagan enters her second season as the head coach at UNF. Assistant coach Ana Roman enters her second year with the Ospreys as well. 

South Florida 
  • Amelie Boy is 3-4, in the one slot in singles. 
  •  Margriet Timmermans is 4-0, on court six in singles.
  • Boy and Evelyne Tiron are 2-1, overall in doubles. 
  • Grace Eland and Laura Pellicer are 3-2, in the three slot in doubles. 
  • USF (3-5) is coming off a 4-3 win against Liberty. 
  • Last year the Eagles went 5-7 overall, 0-1 in the American Conference. 
  • Head coach Cristina Moros enters her fifth year with South Florida.
