MIAMI, Fla. - Women's tennis suffers its third-straight road loss at FIU. The Panthers downed the Ospreys, 5-2.
Florida International swept North Florida in doubles. The Panthers' nationally ranked doubles pair snapped the Ospreys', 4-0, mark in the one slot. Catherine Gulihur and Summer Yardley fell to No. 59 Basak Akbas and Kamila Umarova, 6-3.
FIU kept its momentum scoring the first singles point on court six with Andreea Velcea sweeping Sean Lodzki, 6-2, 6-2. In the two slot, Gulihur picked up a point for the Ospreys, sweeping Akbas, 6-1, 6-2.
The Panthers stretched their lead to 3-1, with a win on court four. Kendall Nash answered back in the five slot downing her opponent 6-3, 6-4.
Lucia Montano was edged on court one, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3), by Umarova, securing the win for Florida International.
North Florida travels to Tampa, Fla., Feb. 24 for its second match against USF.
