Ospreys Drill 11 Treys in Season Opening Game at Texas Tech

The Short Story: North Florida opened the 2021-22 season with a hard fought 89-74 loss at Texas Tech on Tuesday night. The Ospreys connected on 11 three-pointers and had four players in double digits in the contest.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Junior Carter Hendricksen and newcomer Jarius Hicklen both finished with 14 points to pace the Osprey offense
- Hicklen, making his UNF debut, went 5-for-6 from the floor including a perfect 3-of-3 performance from the 3-point arc
- Jose Placer and Jadyn Parker each chipped in 13 points | The total was a career best mark for Parker
- Josh Berenbaum led the way on the glass for North Florida with seven rebounds while Placer paced the squad with four assists

- Texas Tech was hot early scoring the first nine points of the contest
- Carter Hendricksen ended the Osprey drought hitting the first of his three treys on the night | Josh Berenbaum and Hendricksen followed with back-to-back three-pointers to keep the game close
- A 12-4 run minutes later by TTU pushed the margin to double-digits midway through the period
- The Ospreys would score on six consecutive possessions to whittle the deficit to six (38-32) late in the opening stanza
- The Red Raiders closed the half on a 10-2 spurt to build a 50-36 halftime advantage
- The margin grew to 20 early in the second half, but UNF answered with a 12-2 surge to cut the TTU lead in half | Dorian James, Emmanuel Adedoyin and Hendricksen each hit treys to spark the rally
