JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball came from behind in both games to defeat No. 19 Virginia Tech and Purdue on a chilly evening at the UNF Softball Complex. The Ospreys defeated the Hokies, 3-2, before coming from behind for a walk-off 7-6 win against Purdue.

How it Happened
- Virginia Tech capitalized on an Osprey error to score its first run in the second.
- The Hokies had one on with a walk before a single moved the runner. Another single allowed a run to score and give the visitors a 2-0 advantage.
- North Florida scored all of its runs in the fourth as Rebecca Koskey led off with a solo shot to left field.
- Ashley Goebel earned a walk before being replaced by Engman on the bases. She moved on a wild pitch before Paige Pfent earned a walk, but both players were able to move an extra base thanks to a wild pitch on the end of the series.
- The Ospreys then plated two runs, one off a wild pitch and the other off a throwing error by the catcher that sent the ball awry and allowed a runner to come home for the 3-2 lead.
- Virginia Tech left runners in scoring position over the next three innings, but the Osprey defense and freshman hurler Skyler Stockie kept the Hokies at bay.

How it Happened
- The Boilermakers spread their six runs across four innings, plating two in both the second and sixth.
- North Florida had a pair of three-run frames to tie the game.
- In the seventh, Kayla Harper had a one-out single, followed by McGory's two-out single. A walk loaded the bases for Shannon Glover who sent the ball to right field to score the game winning run.
- Purdue took the early lead with an RBI ground out and a sac fly in the second.
- The visitors added another one with a solo homer in the fourth.
- North Florida tied the game in the fourth when Kayla McGory hit her first four-bagger of the season and then Pfent had a two-out home run that scored Goebel as well.
- The Boilermakers re took the lead thanks to a run in the fifth and a pair in the sixth, but the Ospreys once again answered with a three-run frame in the sixth.
- Back-to-back one out hits followed by a triple from Goebel made it 6-5 before Pfent had an RBI ground out to tie the game.
- In the final frame, Purdue threatened with a lead off single, but Dyhr and the defense got the next three batters to end the threat.
NOTES
Glover was 4-for-6 with one run scored and an RBI.
Goebel tallied a triple, two RBI and earned two walks, while scoring two runs.
The win against Virginia Tech is the second against a ranked team. The Ospreys defeated Louisiana in 2018.
