Preview: Women's Basketball Begins ASUN Play at Home

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida begins ASUN play at home as it hosts Stetson for games on Saturday and Sunday. All women's games are now free of charge.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  • North Florida looks to keep its home winning streak alive as it hosts Stetson. North Florida has won four of the last five games, but are 1-1 in those contests at home.
  • The Ospreys are 3-14 in ASUN openers and 6-9 in league home openers; last winning a conference opener in 2012 against Lipscomb in Jacksonville. UNF is 36-31 under Gibbs at UNF Arena.
  • Senior Jazz Bond is 10th in active NCAA Division I players with 160 career blocks. She ranks second in the ASUN with nine this season. She is also on track to record 1,000 career points at North Florida - a feat that has not been accomplished since 2015.
  • North Florida is 47th in the country in total assists with 115 as the Ospreys have recorded 12 or more assists in each game this season. Marissa Mackins ranks FIRST in the ASUN with 30 dishes.
  • North Florida currently ranks third in the ASUN and 80th in the country with a 43.8 field goal percentage. It is the best shooting percentage under Gibbs and the best since the 2016-17 team who shot 40.0 perfect for the season.

SCOUTING THE
OPPONENT

STETSON

  • The Hatters return to the court after back-to-back losses to close out 2020. Stetson had three games canceled at the beginning of the season due to CoVID concerns.

  • Stetson has not faired well against North Florida in the last five meetings as the Ospreys own a 4-1 edge. Prior to those meetings, Stetson won 10 straight.
  • The team is shooting 37.4 percent from the field to rank seventh in the ASUN.
