JACKSONVILLE - North Florida is looking for its first win as it opens its home slate on Thursday against FIU.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- The Ospreys are looking for their fifth straight home-opening win under Gibbs.
- Senior Jazz Bond is just two blocks away from breaking the UNF career record. She would best the 147 from Lakira Jones (2009-14).
- Senior Rhetta Moore set a career-high with 28 points against FAU on Monday. She was 7-for-12 from long range for her most threes in a game as well. It was also the first time since 2017 that a UNF player had seven triples in a game.
- Moore & Marissa Mackins have now each hit six or more three-pointers in a game. The last time UNF had six or more three-pointers two times in a season was Claire Ioannidis in 2016-17.
It has been 267 days since UNF last hosted a home event and it was the final day of the Ospreys season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FIU
- FIU has seven returners on its squad under new head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley. This is the first game for the Panthers who had their original opener canceled due to CoVID-19 concerns.
- Jiselle Thomas led the team with 10 points last year and returns for her junior season.
- The series between the two teams is tied 2-2 with the Ospreys grabbing the last two wins.
