JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman Ashley Goebel hit her first career home run, but it was not enough as UCF topped North Florida softball, 6-2, on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UCF scattered six runs across four innings thanks to six extra base hits.
• A double from Ornelas in the first scored two runs before the Knights took a 3-0 lead on Jazmine Esparza's single in the third.
• The home team scored again on a timely double from Damaria Cannon for the 4-0 advantage.
• In the next frame, Goebel stepped to the plate with Makenzie Griffin on the bases where she sent a 1-0 pitch over the fence to shrink the lead to 4-2.
• In the sixth, UCF added two more runs on three hits to put the game out of reach.
