LYNCHBURG, Va. - North Florida women's tennis had its 10-match win streak come to an end as Liberty defeated the Ospreys, 4-3, at the Cook Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Constanza Gorches grabbed two wins as she partnered with
Rafaela Gomez in No. 1 doubles to take the match, 6-3. She then bounced back from losing the opening set to winning, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5 singles.
Along with the No. 1 pair, Lucia Montano and
Florencia Rossi picked up a win in the No. 2 spot to give UNF the doubles point.
Heading into singles, Liberty won at No. 1 and No. 2 for the 2-1 advantage. Freshman
Ana Paula Melilo had Lara Soares on the ropes in the No. 3 spot, but Soares battled back and gave the home team a 3-1 lead. A win in the No. 6 match secured the victory for Liberty.
Valentina Mariotto was the other Osprey to record a win in the No. 4 position.
