JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball dropped a pair of games on Friday, 8-2, to both UNCW and Ball State on the opening day of the Osprey Classic.
GAME 1 vs. UNCW

How it Happened:
- North Florida scratched across a run in the first when a wild pitch allowed Tiffany Lower to score.
- UNCW answered in the second with a successful double steal for the tie game.
- From there, it was the Seahawks game as they added one run in the fourth and seventh, and a five-spot in the fifth.
- The Ospreys did tie it up at 2-all in the fourth, but the five-run inning doomed UNF.

How it Happened:
- Ball State took a 5-0 lead after a run scored in the first and four crossed in the third.
- North Florida got on the board in the bottom of the third when Makenzie Griffin came around on Lower's double. A wild pitch brought her to third before scoring on Navia Penrod's single.
- The Cardinals added three more runs across the fourth and fifth innings, while pitcher Darcie Huber made work of the Osprey offense, allowing just two batters to go past second base.
- The UNF pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts and just five hits, but were plagued by four walks and seven hit batters.
