JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis defeated Appalachian State, 4-1, on a brisk Tuesday evening at the UNF Tennis Complex
The Ospreys got a quick win from the No. 1 pair of
Rafaela Gomez and
Constanza Gorches before App State came back with a win in the No. 3 position. With the doubles point on the line, Lucia Montano and
Florencia Rossi battled to a 7-5 victory to give UNF the point.
In singles action, Montano made quick work of Sevo Teodora and Gomez followed suit for the 3-0 advantage. The Mountaineers got their point in the No. 6 spot before Mariotto wrapped the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 4 position.
Cobra's Comments:
"We played with good intensity at one doubles, but two and three started very flat that almost cost us the point. I thought we did a much better job in the start of singles. App State is a very competitive and gritty team that never goes away. We did a good job staying focused through the big points and it paid off." -- Head coach
Mariana Cobra.
