Women’s Tennis Welcomes Mercer, Goes to Florida State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Former ASUN foe Mercer comes to Jacksonville for a 10 a.m. first serve Friday before the Ospreys depart for Tallahassee to take on No. 20 Florida State Saturday at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out
  • The weather was not favorable to the Ospreys last weekend. UNF's Friday night match against Georgia State was suspended because of rain with the Ospreys leading 1-0.
  • North Florida went to USF on Sunday, but not after a two and a half hour fog delay pushed first serve back. The Bulls would go on to win the match 6-1.

Friendly Confines
  • In its last 20 matches at home the Ospreys are 15-5.
  • The last time that UNF had a losing record at home was in 2009.

Against Our Opponents
  • The Ospreys have handled Mercer, beating the Bears in all nine of the meetings between the two teams, dating back to 2006. Their last meeting was in 2014, a 7-0 win for the Ospreys in Macon.
  • The Seminoles are 11-1 in a series that goes back to 1985. No. 19 Florida State topped UNF, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season in their last meeting. North Florida grabbed a 6-3 win against the Seminoles in 1988.

  • UNF returns five from last year's roster, including its 2017-18 leader in wins, Lucia Montano (21).
  • Women's tennis added Clemson transfer Constanza Gorches and Brazilian Ana Paula Melilo in the summer before welcoming Sean Lodzki from Tel Aviv, Israel, earlier this month.
