Behind the Line Score
  • UNF went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first, creating a lead it never relinquished.
  • Wes Weeks set the tone, roping a one-hop smash that caromed off FAU's Wilfredo Alvarez at shortstop. Weeks had the presence of mind to take second as the Owls could not retrieve the ball in shallow center.
  • Chris Berry singled to center and Tanner Murphy poked one through the left side, scoring Weeks. David Maberry dropped an RBI single into right, plating Berry with two outs.
  • Some small ball allowed Blake Marabell to come around after reaching on a fielding error in the bottom of the second. The left fielder stole second, moved to third based on Tanner Clark's groundout to first and Weeks scored Marabell with a sacrifice fly.
  • Murphy and Jay Prather went back-to-back with doubles to center field to start the third, making it 4-0 Ospreys.
  • FAU finally got one off Michaelis in the fifth. Francisco Urbaez doubled in Eric Rivera, cutting the UNF lead to 4-1.
  • Michaelis departed after the fifth and was replaced by Zach Chappell who turned 1.2 scoreless innings.
  • UNF had an outbreak of three doubles in the seventh. Prather, Tanner May and Maberry ripped one apiece and Marabell provided a sacrifice fly, putting UNF ahead 7-1.
  • Clayton spun 1.2 scoreless frames before FAU's Pedro Pages ushered him from the game with a grand slam in the ninth.

Coach Parenton's Comments:
"You know they are a good team, they were an NCAA Tournament team and they beat us pretty bad last year. We pitched the guys that we wanted to pitch tonight and got our midweek work. Tomorrow we've got four or five guys again to get ready for the weekend. We started off in the first inning hitting the ball well and that stayed all the way through to the end." -- Head coach Tim Parenton
