Two-Out Runs Push Siena Past Softball

North Florida Goes 3-2 on Weekend

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. - UNF scored first but Siena quieted the Osprey bats while putting together a three-run third as the Saints (2-3) defeated North Florida, 4-1, in the weekend finale on Sunday.

Siena 4, UNF 1

Pitchers of Record:
Win | Maddie McMahon (2-1)
Loss | Morgan Blourne (2-2)

How it Happened:
  • UNF (7-6) went up 1-0 after the first inning. Navia Penrod drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a Taylor Engman infield single and eventually advanced to third after tagging on a foul out reeled in by Siena's left fielder.
  • Paige Pfent put down a bunt that resulted in a fielder's choice, plating Penrod and advancing Engman. The Saints retired the next two batters to end UNF's threat.
  • Siena's three-run inning was catalyzed after two outs.
  • After a one-out single and a sacrifice bunt, Siena strung together a single and back-to-back doubles, making it 3-1 Saints.
  • Siena scored another two-out run in the fourth. Two errors setup Amanda Dodson for an RBI single, putting Siena ahead by three.
  • UNF didn't generate more than one baserunner in any inning the rest of the way.
  • Morgan Clausen spun 4.1 innings, fanning two while not permitting an earned run.
