NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Newly ranked No. 25 Vanderbilt defended its home courts Friday, upending the visiting Ospreys (4-5) at the Currey Tennis Center, 6-1.
Freshman
Dominik Barton bumped his singles record to 6-3, moving his overall record to 14-6. Barton outlasted Vanderbilt's Macsen Sisam, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, winning his sixth match at the third slot.
No. 25 Vanderbilt (9-2) was able to take the other five singles matches in straight sets after taking the doubles point to start the action.
Coach Lucas' Comments:
"It's always tough playing a top-25 team on the road. Vanderbilt was too good today, as they played downhill all day. Clearly they are used to playing indoor tennis, and we just didn't adjust like I had hoped we would. Hopefully we will be better against a good MTSU team Sunday morning. I thought Dominik played a solid match and got back to dictating, which is the way he needs to play to be at his best." -- Head coach
Matt Lucas
