BOCA RATON, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis picked up two singles wins against FIU, but ultimately fell 4-2 to the hosts on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers (2-3) grabbed the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Both were forced into tiebreaker matches with FIU coming out on top.
In singles play, freshmen reigned supreme with wins in the fourth and sixth spots, respectively. Ana Paula Melilo upended Sandra Bozinovic, surrendering just three games, while newcomer Sean Lodzki picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Cobra's Comments:
"It was a good match against a tough FIU team today. I think that you can see in the results how close we are getting to winning these types of matches. I think the biggest thing for us is embracing these challenges and moments. For example, we had our chances in doubles, but when you don't take those chances you end up falling behind, 1-0. That's really what it comes down to, seeing that moment and take advantage of it. But, we can't spend much time on this. I'm pleased with how the girls competed and carried themselves, and now we have to reset for tomorrow and play a good FAU team." -- Head coach
Mariana Cobra.

- The Ospreys still possess a 6-3 series advantage with FIU.
- This is Lodzki's second win of the season and first at the number six slot.
- Two matches went to tiebreaker in doubles, the first time that has happened this year.
