Women’s Basketball Hosts Liberty on Senior Day


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Ospreys look to get their third straight home ASUN victory as they invite the Flames to the UNF Arena on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1:00 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  North Florida scored 54 points in the second half including 32 in the fourth quarter as part of a second half frenzy, but it wasn't enough to overtake crosstown rival Jacksonville in Tuesday's River City Rumble rematch at Swisher Gym. JU held on for the 75-63 win.

Osprey Fast Breaks:
  • UNF is 11-13 and 6-7 in ASUN play following a 75-63 loss to JU on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
  • Six ASUN victories marks the most under Darrick Gibbs and is the highest conference win total since winning seven in 2012-13.
  • Emanuel-Wright topped the 20-point mark for the seventh time this season and fifth time in the last six games when she dropped 20 against JU Tuesday.
  • UNF is 7-2 on Tuesdays after the loss against Jacksonville University.
  • Bond reached double-figures for the 15th time, while Janesha Green tallied her eighth double-digit performance.
  • Bond is second in the ASUN in scoring at 15.7 points per game. She just earned her third ASUN Newcomer of the Week award this past Monday.
  • The Ospreys' nine points scored in the first half marked a season low production
  • North Florida committed 24 turnovers that resulted in 21 points for JU
  • UNF will honor Purifoy and Emanuel-Wright for Senior Day.

Scouting Liberty:
  • The Flames come in with a record of 11-14 overall and 7-5 in the ASUN. They are fourth league with four conference games left on their slate.
  • Liberty is coming off a 61-57 win against the North Alabama Lions on Saturday, Feb. 16. Liberty held the Lions to 33.3 percent from the field in the game and out rebounded UNA by 17 rebounds.
  • Bridgette Rettstatt is sixth in the league in rebounding at 7.0 rebounds per game.
  • Sophomore guard Ria Gulley is leading the Flames in assists with 3.2 per game, while Emily Lytle is leading the team in scoring averaging 13.3 pts per game.
  • LU has the worst turnovers/game mark in the ASUN.
