JACKSONVILLE - The Ospreys may be back sleeping in their own beds, but North Florida women's basketball is still away from UNF Arena as it travels across town to take part in the JU Thanksgiving Classic.
1. ROAD WARRIORS
The Ospreys are in the midst of a nine-game road swing including four neutral site contests. North Florida is 2-2 in the first four contests. UNF averages three wins away from UNF Arena per season under coach
Darrick Gibbs.
2. NO GREEN PERFORMANCE HERE
Senior
Janesha Green earned ASUN Player of the Week accolades after averaging 20.7 points in UNF's 2-1 week. She becomes the first Osprey in three years to earn the honor and ninth overall. She hit career bests against Alabama A&M (21) and then added to it in the win against Rider (27).
3. OFF THE GLASS
Senior
Adrienne Jackson ranks fourth in the conference with 8.0 boards per game. She currently has 428 career boards to rank eighth in the Ospreys Division I record book.
4.TAKE THE FREEBIES
North Florida is second in the nation in free throws made and fourth in attempts. Green ranks seventh in the NCAA with 37 makes from the line, while
Jazz Bond is 52nd in the country with her 89.7 free throw percentage
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Norfolk State (2-3)
- Norfolk State is looking to bounce back after a 55-52 loss to La Salle in its third straight home game.
- Channette Hicks is averaging 20.6 points per game, shooting at a 41 percent clip. La'Deja James joins her in double figures with 14.8 points per game.
- Blaire Thomas leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 per contest and also chips in 9.2 points.
- As a team, the Spartans are shooting 38.4 percent and outscoring opponents by 12.2 points.
Nicholls (2-3)
- The Colonels are heading into the weekend with a two-game winning streak after opening the season with three straight losses.
- Adrian Mann is pacing Nicholls with 11.2 points per game, while Airi Hamilton is also averaging double digits at 10.4 points per game.
- Off the glass, Chrystal Ezechukwu has a team-best 27 boards with Hamilton just behind at 26.
- The team is shooting .385 from the floor, but just 27 from long range. Mann leads the team with nine triples.
