Askew Eclipses 1,000 Assists in Sweep at NJIT

Volleyball Earns Sixth Sweep of the Season

NEWARK, N.J. -  The Ospreys (12-14, 5-6 ASUN) kicked off their three-match road trip up and down the East Coast with a sweep of NJIT (1-26, 0-11) Friday, Nov. 1. Freshman Julianna Askew surpassed the 1,000-assist milestone in the win as UNF claimed its seventh sweep of the season.

Inside the Sets
  • Set 1: UNF poured on the aces in the first set … The Ospreys went on a 9-1 run, establishing a 12-2 lead … UNF hit .318 with four aces to dominate the first set, never trailing in the opening session.
  • Set 2: Julianna Askew surpassed assist number 1,000 for the season in the second frame ... NJIT had three fewer attack errors UNF had 31 more attack attempts, three more aces and four more kills than the Highlanders in the second frame ... NJIT tied things up but never possessed the lead.
  • Set 3: UNF held NJIT to just .036 hitting in the final session ... NJIT had its first lead of the match, up 5-4, although once UNF reclaimed an 8-7 lead it never surrendered it.

I'm really proud of Julianna for surpassing 1,000 assists tonight. That's a huge accomplishment as a freshman. We are proud of her team-first attitude, and I know her teammates couldn't agree more."
